Leo Laporte wants to Trademark NETCAST, re-branded his podcasts as NETCASTS
I am with Leo on this one. I am not 100% in agreement on the choice of names, but he didn’t ask or I would have told him that. I have always had issues with the term “podcasting” since a lot of the devices used to play these casts are not “pods”. I think a more general term should be used and then if a caster wants to create a more appropriate name for their particular blog, they can trademark something more unique for their particular purpose.
Although I must say that I am getting tired of all of the copyright, patent, and trademark lawsuits. I am sickened that the courts have allowed this kind of crap to go on so long. The sad thing is that most of the decisions being made in the courts are made by judges who have no technical knowledge. No one is winning here. Unless you count those blood-thirsty money-grabbing large companies who can fit the bills for these cases.
