Imagine Earth Without People
Imagine Earth without people - earth - 12 October 2006 - New Scientist
This article is important to me because some scientists feel that we have such control over the Earth. They tell us that we are going to destroy the planet with our greenhouse gases and such. This story reveals that Earth is a lot bigger than we understand. There are so many forces at work. Even the destruction at Chernobyl was not enough to destroy the eco-system there.
We give ourselves credit for being a lot more powerful than we really are. We may play a small part in changes to our weather, but we do not control the destiny of the planet on which we live. We, as inhabitants, do not steer the rudder of the ship we call Earth. How much of a difference to we make in this world? How quickly would it forget us?
