I watched a movie last night that I have seen before.  I like the plot of the movie a lot.  I think it could be a rather enjoyable film if there wasn’t such a liberal agenda behind it.  The movie was, The American President.  A large part of the movie focuses on how the President wants to push this legislation to initiate a waiting period on handgun purchases.  His liberal girlfriend, also an environmental wacko, keeps telling him that it is not enough.  She alludes to the fact that a kid just has to wait three more days before accidentally killing himself.  Later, the President makes a speech and says he wants an even tougher crime bill that eventually would take assault rifles and handguns out of American citizens’ hands.  He says that he will “get the guns”.  I hate that part of the movie.  Who does that guy think he is?  We have a right to bear arms.  People died to give us that right.

Liberal wackos, let me ask you a question.  Where do you think the killers, drug dealers, and thiefs get their guns.  Do you think that they are law-abiding only when it comes to the purchase of handguns?  Do they take the legal road in this one arena of their phsycotic life?  No, they don’t.  They steal the guns they use or buy them off the street.  So, who does this kind of legislation affect?  It affects me!  It takes away my God given right to defend myself and my family.  I am not derranged just because I want to own a handgun.  It is not the guns that kill people.  It is people who kill people and it was happening long before handguns were evented.  We have killed each other for sport long ago in our history.

I am sure the cave men bang each other over the head with clubs or fought with fists to the death.  We can’t blame our human problems on inanimate objects.  Guns just make the killing easier.  I believe in gun safety.  I believe that gun safety should be taught in each state and that people should be required to take courses, whether they own a gun or not.  Liberal friend, you may not allow guns in your house, but you do not know how many families that you child plays with do.  You can’t always shelter your kids from weapons.  You must make sure they know what to do in case they are ever in a situation where a firearm is readily accessible.

I do not blame the liberals for what they are attempting to do.  I understand that there is an issue here.  I just think they are missing the mark.  Stop punishing good honest people and actually do something that affects the criminals.  If I am a criminal, your Brady bill means nothing to me.  The black market doesn’t have a waiting period.  Go back to the drawing board and make some legislation that works.  Better yet, enforce some that we already have.
