Pirated Vista May be Useless

Microsoft says supposedly pirated copies of its new Vista computer operating system “will be of limited value” to those who use them.”

This is the same thing that happens with every release of Windows. There are pre-release keys that are used by developers and testers and these keys get out to the public. The keys will stop working at some point, I am sure, but the question is, will there be another way to use the operating system free by that time. Ever piece of software is hackable and crackable. It just takes people time to reverse engineer or build a new tool.

Companies like Microsoft are sticking to the consumer. They cannot catch the hacker, so they pass their losses off to you by charging exorbitant prices and by limiting your use of the product you paid cold hard cash for. You are the loser here. No one else. Microsoft wins because they are a large company and will pass on the losses. The pirates win eventually because the software will be cracked. I will say that Microsoft has struck back with their Windows Genuine Advantage product. It is keeping pirates from updating their Microsoft products if they cannot prove they legally own them by the WGA mechanism.

I still would choose to use Linux. You can get it free and use it free. It is clean, fast, and very capable. If you have not looked into using Linux on your computer, now is the time. There are many distributions (varieties) available and many are tailored for specific uses. It would behoove you to look into this operating system as opposed to the corporate conglomerate’s package.
