New Congress: No Internet Access Taxes
During its first full day, the 110th Democratic-controlled Congress got to work on new legislation and one of the first tech-related bills was The Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act of 2007. The bill, sponsored by Sens. Ron Wyden (D-OR), John McCain (R-AZ) and John Sununu (R-NH) would make permanent an existing ban on state and local Internet taxes
We won’t have to pay a surcharge to get Internet access for now it seems. I am sure the government and the ISPs will soon find a way to charge us more for less. Yet, this is good for the time being. Hopefully, we will see more of this net-friendly type of work being done by Congress.
