Better of Two Evils

I know we republicans are getting tired of hearing this, but we better get used to the idea of picking the lesser of two evils. I know that “true republicans” are going to get angry about my comments, but since it is not my job to keep republicans happy, I don’t care. As much as I would like our party to strongly unite behind our candidate, I also would like our party to get back to the basics of what made us great. I cannot align myself completely behind John McCain. I think highly of him and greatly respect his sacrifices for our country. I think he can be a great leader and do much good for America, but I also think he can make some bad decisions and that he has some bad views and goals for our country.

Having stated my views on the republican candidate, it is only fair to beat up on Obama as well. I believe that Obama could do some good things for America. I don’t think he is completely bad, but I do believe he has some shady friends and clings to an old America that he thinks we should be freed from. I think that even with all of our faults this county is still the greatest example of the possibilities of freedom. Obama wants to show us how bad we are and fix us. I think we need a president that will see how good we are and want to encourage us to continue on in the fight. Obama has some good views in relation to technology, but they are not so great that they overwhelm his views on socialism and big government.

Both parties have long left their original values. All of our politicians have become self-oriented and self-serving. We need someone who can revive the core values of this country. We need someone who can stand in the gap when the choices he has to make are not popular. And yes, I said he. I believe our president should be a he. You will have to forgive my views on this, but I think that this position of leadership should fall on a man. I am not a sexist. I am not saying that a woman could not be president. I am saying that she should not. As a christian, I believe that a biblical precident has been set. It appears in scripture that God specifically called men out to lead and women to be a help mate. Funny how that correlates so well to the Garden of Eden where God created Adam a help mate.

Putting my “man” views aside, we need someone with character to lead our country. We need someone that is honest and trustworthy. I only see one choice right now. That person is John McCain. He may not be my personal choice for the office, but he is the only one viable at this point. None of my other choices are running. Let’s get behind this man and encourage him to serve the people and to stick to the core values that made America great.
